Who We Are

FASE (Football Accreditation for Sustainability & Excellence) is an independent, football-specific sustainability assessment and audit framework.

We were established in response to a growing challenge across the professional game.

Sustainability expectations are increasing, regulatory scrutiny is intensifying, yet governance structures, evidential standards, and comparability often lag behind stated ambition.

FASE was developed by football business specialists with academic and applied expertise in football governance, sustainability, and financial oversight. Our approach is grounded in postgraduate research, informed by emerging regulation, and shaped by the operational realities of how football clubs actually function.

We believe sustainability in football must move beyond self-declared intent. It must be governed, evidenced, and capable of standing up to regulatory, commercial, and public scrutiny.

A research-led governance and sustainability framework developed specifically for professional football.

Our Foundation

Football holds a unique position in society. It combines global visibility with deep local identity, commercial power with community responsibility.

We are passionate about protecting that role.

As expectations rise from regulators, sponsors, supporters, and the media, clubs are being asked to prove not just what they believe in, but how well they govern it. Too often, positive initiatives are undermined by weak structure, fragmented ownership, or a lack of credible evidence.

FASE exists to help football get this right. Not through box-ticking or marketing claims, but through robust governance, proportional assessment, and continuous improvement over time.

Our Purpose

To provide football clubs with a structured, credible framework for assessing and strengthening sustainability performance through governance, evidence, and accountability.

Our Vision

A football ecosystem in which sustainability performance is governed, evidenced, and comparable across clubs and competitions.

Our Values

Abstract green leaf texture representing independence and ethical decision making

Independence

Objective, evidence-based assessment, free from commercial influence.

Modern architectural structure symbolising integrity, structure, and robust governance

Integrity

Clear standards, robust audit trails, and no reward for unsupported claims.

Curved building facade representing proportionality and scale in assessment

Proportionality

Rigour applied in line with club scale, resources, and context.

Contemporary architectural detail representing progression and continuous improvement

Progression

Progress measured over time, not one-off compliance.

Vertical cactus forms symbolising consistency and comparable outcomes over time

Consistency

Comparable outcomes across clubs, leagues, and seasons.

FASE was created to turn sustainability in football from aspiration into accountable performance.

- Brandon Duxbury, Founder

Built for football. Designed for credibility.

FASE is not a generic sustainability standard adapted for sport. It is built exclusively for football.

Our framework reflects how clubs are governed and operated in practice, from ownership structures and financial oversight to stadium operations, matchday delivery, and fan engagement.

Governance sits at the centre of our approach. Environmental and stakeholder activity is assessed in the context of leadership, decision-making, and accountability, ensuring sustainability performance is credible, proportionate, and evidence-led.

FASE does not replace regulation. It supports readiness, credibility, and long-term resilience across the game.
